The Naitasiri team says they will not be complacent as they prepare to face Malolo this week in the Skipper Cup final, despite securing an impressive victory over Tailevu on Saturday.
Team captain Jone Naqiri says the side has now shifted its full focus to the upcoming final, acknowledging that Malolo is a strong and disciplined opponent.
Naqiri says that although Naitasiri defeated Malolo in their first encounter, they will not underestimate them, noting that Malolo has delivered consistent and powerful performances in all their matches and remains a real threat in the competition.
He adds that their win over Tailevu to the grace of God, and the unity, love, and hard work of the Naitasiri players.
Naqiri also commended head coach Timoci Tinaviti for his motivational halftime speech, which helped reignite the team’s confidence.
He says coach Tinaviti reminded them that, as sons of Naitasiri, they needed to prove their strength and pride on the field — a message that lifted their spirits and pushed them to finish strong.
With confidence and respect for their opponents, Naqiri says they aim to extend their winning momentum in this week’s crucial match against Malolo.
Naitasiri will take on Malolo this Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
