A family of five from Votualevu, Nadi, is seeking assistance after their home was destroyed in a fire on Sunday.

Shahista Azmin Bi, the daughter of the homeowner, says nothing in their house was left and they are need of groceries.

She says they also need medicine for her parents as her father has diabetes and just had kidney transplant while her mother needs medication for high-blood pressure and diabetes.

Bi says they were all asleep when the fire broke out but they managed to escape the house unharmed.

She also say that the total damages amount to approximately $1.3 million.

Bi adds they are currently staying at a neighbours house.

The National Fire Authority says no one was injured in the fire that caused 80 percent damage to a house in Malawai Votualevu, Nadi.

NFA says the double-story building contained four bedrooms on the top floor and a kava bar on the first floor.

Investigation continues on the cause of the fire.
