National Federation Party President Parmod Chand has described Fiji Labour Party Leader Mahendra Chaudhry as a disgraced politician who attacks the NFP Leader over his remarkable achievements.
During the NFP Working Committee Meeting in Ba, Parmod Chand dismissed accusations of unfulfilled promises as delusional and baseless.
The NFP President clarified that neither the party nor its leader made any promises during the campaign.
He says that they did not release a manifesto, but rather presented a Vision Document outlining their aspirations for Fiji’s future.
He says the small-minded political leader must be hallucinating to think otherwise.
Chand says that while the vast majority of people are satisfied with the 2025/2026 National Budget, one person remains opposed and he finds it unsurprising.
The NFP President says that earlier this week, Chaudhry attacked the United States Embassy for supporting the Fijian Media Association’s Townhall forums, accusing it of interfering in local politics.
He says Chaudhry also questioned the independence of the media, quite irresponsibly linking the innovative event to public broadcasting grants being provided by the government.
Chand says he will now use the same fishhook on him because those who live in glass houses do not throw stones at others.
Chand says a convicted criminal can’t hold others to account when he himself is unaccountable.
The NFP President further says that the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad will keep on doing what he does best as an NFP Leader – putting national interest above anything else.
Responding to this, Chaudhry says Chand is by intellect both barren and bankrupt.
The FLP Leader alleges that Chand is nothing more than a puppet in the NFP's so-called Working Committee meetings, where he repeatedly reads out anti-Chaudhry speeches reportedly written by an NFP-aligned media personality.
He says that this pattern of behaviour was evident at a recent meeting in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka, and that it has become clear his name dominates the agenda at all NFP committee and party meetings. Chaudhry says the lies and accusations uttered in Chand's hate speeches are repeats and have been exposed as such many times over.
He says these accusations are false, defamatory, malicious and inciteful and he has referred the matter to his legal counsel for appropriate action.
The FLP Leader adds that NFP may want to talk about the findings of the Commission of Inquiry report.
