Haliman Nisha of Siberia, Labasa

The wife of Taiyab Hussain whose body was found along the Benau River bank in Labasa this morning says she had told her husband not to go to the river as he never used to go out fishing.

Haliman Nisha of Siberia, Labasa says Hussain never used to take their son’s boat and she tried her best to convince him not to go out fishing as their son was in Suva to visit a relative.

Nisha says Hussain had told her not to worry and only pray for him as he will bring fish for her.

Nisha says when Hussain did not return home, she left the home in the night and started looking for her husband but there was no response.

A post mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

Police had earlier said that Hussain left on his 12 feet single tin boat on Tuesday night and failed to return home yesterday morning.
