A mother lost her daughter a day before her birthday in the tragic accident in Wainiyabia, Navua yesterday afternoon that also claimed the life of three children.

Mere Rasuaki who was to celebrate her 56th birthday today says her daughter, Elenoa Adisavuiwasa was travelling to Sigatoka with her 6-year-old son, her de-facto husband, 4 and 13-year-old nephews and 10-year-old niece.

She says only her daughter and her de-facto husband were to travel to Sigatoka but the children got upset so Elenoa decided to bring them along as well.

Rasuaki says her grandson is admitted in the hospital while her daughters nephews and niece are no more.

She adds she managed to talk to her grandson.

Rasuaki says her daughter had already arranged for a cake to be delivered to her house this morning.

She says she received a call this morning from the bakers who were asking about her daughter and the address the cake was to be delivered to.

Rasuaki adds she last spoke to her daughter at about midday yesterday when she had informed her that she was travelling to Sigatoka.

She says she did not know that her daughter was going to surprise her with a birthday party.

The suspect who is the woman’s defacto husband is admitted in the hospital.

He has sustained serious injuries.

Police say the suspect was allegedly driving at a high speed when he failed to negotiate a bend resulting in the collision with a bus.

The post mortem examinations of the four victims will be conducted soon.

Investigations continue.
