More than 120 entries were received for the Domo Vou Talei Music Competition and today is the final day for judging.

The Creative Production Manager at CFL’s Magic Factory, Tikiko Korocowiri who is also part of the judges panel, says one of the aim of the competition is to revive the local music industry through the different variety of music that the applicants have brought in.

He says they have gone through half of the applications and are hoping to complete their judging today and finalize the 10 contestants.

He also highlighted that some established artists had applied, but due to the competition criteria, these artists will not be selected.

People will know the top 10 finalists of the Domo Vou Talei Music Competition at the end of this week or early next week.

The 10 finalist will have the opportunity to have their original songs featured on ABC’s Pacific Beat Island music show and they will also participate in the Uprising Music Festival in July, where the winners will be announced.

The Westpac People’s Choice Award will receive a prize money of $3,000 while the Fiji Times Grand Prize Award winner will walk away with $5,000.
