The Ministry for Health and Medical Services will be opening more fever clinics around the country where people with fever like symptoms can check themselves rather than going to a health centre which can be detrimental if results are positive for coronavirus.

This has been highlighted by Chief Medical Advisor, Doctor Jemesa Tudravu during a press conference stating that two fever facilities have been opened in Lautoka and they are intending to increase this number and open other clinics around the country.

He adds the focus of the fever clinic is to increase the Ministry’s capabilities to be able to identify the people who are potentially a COVID-19 suspect.

Dr Tudravu also stressed that people should stop spreading rumors or misinformation of any new cases and respect patient confidentiality.

He says it is also concerning the high level of vilification of the victim that is currently in isolation and has asked the people to stop this as the situation we are in now is not only about the victim but everyone in the country.

Testing of Coronavirus at Tamavua is done everyday- Dr Sahukhan

Head of Health Protection, Doctor Aalisha Sahukhan has stressed that testing for COVID-19 at the Fiji Centre for Disease Control in Tamavua is being done everyday.

Dr Sahukhan says since the day the testing lab was set-up in Tamavua, testing for COVID-19 has been on-going everyday.

She says samples of the people who they have isolated before are being monitored and if they see symptoms and signs of COVID-19, these people will be isolated and they will update the people as soon as possible.

Dr Sahukhan adds that people are now taking steps towards a healthy lifestyle.
