There was mixed emotions in the Fiji Water Flying Fijians camp today after their 24-23 loss to Portugal in their final 2023 Rugby World Cup pool match this morning.

Lock forward Isoa Nasilasila says they were disappointed about the loss but they are happy that they managed to get the bonus point that helped them secure a place in the quarter finals after 16 years.

Nasilasila says Portugal did really well on the defensive ball.

He says Fiji put a lot of pressure on themselves offensively and defensively and committed a lot of turnovers, mistakes and conceded a lot of penalties which built up to the result.

He adds they will go and celebrate the qualification but will get back to the drawing board tomorrow to prepare for their quarter final match next week.

The Flying Fijians’ finished second place from pool C after that bonus-point loss and set up a quarter final showdown with England next Monday.

Fiji will play England in the third cup quarter final at 3am in Marseille.

In other RWC quarter finals, Wales will play Argentina at 3am Sunday, Ireland will take on the All Blacks at 7am on Sunday and hosts France will play South Africa at 7am next Monday.
