The assistance will run for the next 4 months – Dr Reddy

The Ministry of Agriculture will be deploying farming materials and other necessary assistance to affected families in the Northern Division from today.

Minister for Agriculture Dr Mahendra Reddy says this includes 10,000 seed packs that consists of about 6 to 7 vegetable seeds, 30,000 bele cuttings and other short term crops.

He says this will assist families in the Northern Division with respect to getting their crops quickly so that they can have a steady source of vegetables and protein.

Reddy says 2 qualified veterinarians will immediately attend to the livestocks which has been affected by the cyclone.

He says they also have set-up a veterinary clinic in Lekutu, Bua and a mobile clinic which will be servicing farmers in the Northern Division.

Reddy has urged farmers in the North, if they have infected or injured livestock to contact their officers in Lekutu and they will immediately respond.

He also highlighted that the assistance will run for the next four months.

The Central and Western Divisions will be provided with the same assistance next week.
