Minister for Sugar Industry Charan Jeath Singh

Minister for Sugar Industry Charan Jeath Singh has revealed the salaries of former and current senior staff of the Fiji Sugar Corporation, where former board member who advanced to CEO and Executive Chair Abdul Khan was earning $802,800 as base salary and $37,200 as allowances, which totalled $840,000 between 2011 and 2016, while the farmers struggled and a near bankrupt company stayed just afloat.

In a press conference, Singh also reveals the former CEO Graham Clark was earning $550,000 as base salary and $178,128 as allowances, former Chief Operating Officer Navin Chandra was earning $450,000 as base salary and $96,564 as allowances, former Chief Financial Officer Manoj Ram was earning $250,000 as base salary and $64,000 as allowances, Advising Engineer Martin Welch was earning $368,500 as base salary and $64,500 as allowances, while Field Extension Services Officer Gavin Taylor was earning $250,000 as base salary and $85,564 as allowances.

Singh also says the former Minister for Sugar, Voreqe Bainimarama should be blamed.

He further says technically, FSC is bankrupt.

Singh says it is outrageous that FICAC has taken more than three years to complete the investigation pertaining to allegations of abuse of office and corruption.

The Minister also says the current CEO Bhan Pratap Singh earns $250,000 as base salary and $48,000 as allowances.

He says he is not overpaid because he is an experienced CEO.
