National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad says their position is not about the release of any individual prisoner but they want the Mercy Commission to be appointed which should look at which prisoners are eligible for release.

Prasad says it is not for anyone in parliament to say who should be considered to be released from jail.

When asked on what is NFP’s stand based on Opposition Leader, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu calling for the release of prisoners like 2000 coup leader, George Speight and Naitasiri High Chief, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata, Prasad says he does not share the same view as SODELPA, as it is the job of the Mercy Commission to look at individual prisoners.
