The McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s will return next year after a two-year absence and it is expected to be bigger and more exciting with top local and international teams participating, top international commentary team’s inclusion and a world renowned Rugby 7’s player, Collins Injera as the tournament ambassador.

The tournament which began back in 2010 was postponed for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Coral Coast 7s Organising Committee says with the support of funding by the McDonald’s Family Restaurant, the tournament will return in January 12th to the 14th, just before the Australian leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens 2022-2023 season.

They say the teams who take part in this tournament will have to win a local qualifier to make it into the line-up of over forty teams and it makes the McDonald's Fiji’s Coral Coast Sevens tournament one of the hardest fought tournaments in Fiji. The last McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s tournament in 2020 had 42 participating teams spread across 16 men’, 12 women’s and 16 youth teams and for next year, the organizers are welcoming 16 women’s teams to the tournament.
