The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji has directed that all maritime transport involving passengers and cargo to and from Suva, Rakiraki, Natovi, Nabouwalu, Savusavu, Taveuni, Labasa, Kadavu, Lomaiviti and the Lau Group are to cease from midday today due to damaging winds.

MSAF says there is a warning for heavy rain and flash flooding in low lying areas therefore visibility will be affected also in these areas.

All ship masters, ship owners and ship agents for foreign and local ships, pilots, port management companies, marinas and yacht clubs are advised of the approaching Tropical Depression TD09F located about 200 kilometres East North East of Nadi.

The system is slow moving and is expected to track southwards through the Fiji group in the next 24 hours.
