The Marist Brothers’ High School rugby Under 18 side is taking their preparation towards this year’s Vodafone Super Deans competition to another level as they have opted to stay out of speaking to the media this year even before the Southern Zone competition kicks off.

When contacted this morning, school Principal Asish Dayal told fijivillage News that they will not be making any comments to the media until after the Southern Zone competition.

After a successful tour of New Zealand, where they won all five of their matches, they have opted for a more low-key approach towards their Deans preparation.

They will be looking to repeat their historical win in 2022 where they won the Deans trophy after 44 years.

The Marist U-18 squad reached the finals of the Under-17 grade last year, narrowly losing 35-34 to Ratu Kadavulevu School, while both teams are once again strong contenders for this year’s highly anticipated Deans Trophy final.

Meanwhile, the draws for this week’s matches have yet to be finalized.
