Marist 7s provides opportunities for future stars in Fiji- Saukuru

Fiji 1 vs Army Green during yesterday's Marist 7s tournament

The 47th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s is one of the tournaments that allow future stars and leaders of rugby 7s to experience high-level and meaningful competition while also experiencing and sharing the values of the sport.

These were the sentiments shared by Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru during the closing ceremony of the Marist 7s tournament.

He says tournaments like this lays the foundation for future 7s stars and also develop the next generation of champions that are eager to represent the country on the international stage.

Saukuru says we have witnessed stars discovered from this tournament that have gone on to win medals in the Olympics and in the World Rugby 7s series.

He acknowledged the organizers for organizing such a tournament that encourages many disadvantaged youths to make a career for themselves and also provides them with a second chance to have a bright future which the Ministry of Youth and Sports is trying to address.

Saukuru has also encouraged people to get active so we can fight against non-communicable diseases.
