Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Bala says many Fijians regardless of race or background have benefited from many education and training programs provided by India.

He highlighted this during the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Day celebration in Holiday Inn in Suva.

Bala says given the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our economy, the standards of up-skilling our population will be raised to a new bar.

The Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, Palaniswamy Subramanyan Karthigeyan says Fiji is one of the major partners of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation program and in the last ten years, more than 850 students have benefitted under this program and come back with invaluable skills to contribute to the Fiji’s socioeconomic development.

He says as the world emerges out of the pandemic, there will be a lot more opportunities to work together.
