Manchester United took a major stride towards the Europa League final after a stunning 3-0 win against Athletic Bilbao in the semi-final this morning.
The match swung in United’s favour in the 30th minute, when Harry Maguire showed great composure on the right wing before delivering a cross that was flicked on for Casemiro to nod home.
United’s advantage grew seven minutes later, when a video assistant referee review led to a penalty after Dani Vivian fouled Rasmus Højlund - Vivian was shown a red card, and Bruno Fernandes converted the spot-kick to give United a 2-0 lead.
Just before half-time, United struck again as Manuel Ugarte’s clever flick set up Fernandes, who finished clinically to make it 3-0.
Casemiro nearly added a fourth in the second half, glancing a header off the post, as United continued to control the game.
Although they didn’t find another goal, this win puts them firmly in control ahead of the return leg.
Meanwhile, Tottenham defeated Bodø/Glimt 3-1 in the other semi-final.
