A 53-year-old man who allegedly murdered his wife in Kinoya will take his plea on the 29th of this month.

Fatai Peni appeared before High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar today.

He is charged with one count of murder.

The alleged incident happened on the 29th of December last year after a heated argument between the couple.

The state prosecution told the court that Peni's psychiatric evaluation report shows that he is fit to take a plea.

The defence lawyer told the court that the accused had made a bail application in person.

However, Justice Goundar says he will not consider a bail application of a murder case which is filed in person.

He has told the defence to file a formal bail application.

Peni is further remanded in custody.

The matter will be called on the 29th of June, 2020.
