A man is in police custody for his alleged involvement in a robbery in Vuci South, Nausori, where a woman was robbed at knifepoint with a cane knife outside her home last night.

58-year-old Anjula Devi, who runs Goloka Vegetarian Restaurant at Nausori Market, says they had just returned home at around 8.30pm.

She says she got out of the van with a handbag around her neck and was about to open the van’s back door to take out chillies when she was attacked by the masked man.

CCTV footage shows the suspect, armed with a cane knife, approaching Devi from behind, grabbing the bag, and running away.

She says she screamed and alerted her husband, after which a report was lodged with Nausori Police Station.

Police say the suspect was known to them and was arrested this morning.

They say he is currently in Police custody and is being processed for other cases he was involved in.
