A man charged for allegedly importing parcels of cocaine into the country in April last year will appear in the Lautoka Magistrates Court today.

The man who is in his 30s is charged with unlawful exportation of illicit drugs.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says investigations were conducted by the Fiji Police Narcotics Bureau in collaboration with the Australian Federal Police, Australian Customs, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service and Post Fiji.

She says the cooperation shown by all stakeholders is testament to the heightened level of monitoring and protection of the national and regional borders.

Naisoro adds Fiji Police Force is grateful to the support shown by the regional partners in keeping the Pacific region safe from the harmful effects of drugs.
