A man has been arrested after he and two others allegedly assaulted a taxi driver and robbed him of personal belongings near the Fiji Football Association’s headquarters in Vatuwaqa yesterday afternoon.

Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan says eyewitnesses quickly alerted police of the alleged incident where officers from the Southern Division were deployed and the suspect was arrested at the scene.

The suspect is being questioned as investigations continue.

ACP Khan has acknowledged community support in reporting crimes.

He says police rely on the support of the public to share information in a timely manner and it also acts as a deterrent to would-be perpetrators.
