Majority of the breaches of health restrictions linked to grog and kava consumption

21 people have been arrested for breaching curfew and health restrictions in place with majority of the arrests linked to alcohol and grog consumption.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says the Southern Division recorded 8 cases where 4 men were found intoxicated in Naitata in Navua, 3 others were arrested for a similar case in Tamavua-i-Wai while a 34-year-old farmer was found drunk and loitering in Vugalei in Lami.

He says 3 cases were recorded in the Central Division and all are linked to breach of curfew orders.

Tudravu further says of the 7 cases recorded in the Eastern Division, 6 were arrested for drinking grog in Vusuya in Nausori while a 55-year-old taxi driver was arrested for crossing to Muaniweni from Baulevu in Nausori.

He adds the Western Division recorded 3 cases where all those arrested were found drinking alcohol in Yavulo Village cemetery area.
