Marist Brothers High School Under 18 captain Anthony McGowan

Marist Brothers High School Under 18 captain Anthony McGowan is confident in his side’s chances ahead of this weekend’s Vodafone Southern Zone Secondary Schools Rugby U18 final, but says they are not underestimating Suva Grammar School.

The highly anticipated clash will also see the two rivals battle for the revived Jone Tabuya Shield, a title that was previously contested in the U19 grade.

Speaking to fijivillage News, McGowan says the team has remained consistent in their training and are prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually for the showdown.

He adds that the strong sense of brotherhood within the team and their commitment to the five Marist pillars will drive their performance on the day.

He says no matter the result, they will remain humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

Meanwhile, kick-off times for the Southern Zone finals will be confirmed soon.

Other matchups this weekend include Suva Grammar vs Dudley High in the U14 final, MGM vs Grammar in the U15, and Grammar vs Marist in both the U16 and U17. Ratu Simione Matanitobua College will face Nasinu Secondary School in the U19 final.
