Kiala Henri Lusaka at Suva High Court

Kiala Henri Lusaka's father-in-law has told the Suva High Court that Lusaka had sent pictures to him of his daughter who appeared to be lifeless and had something on her eyes.

Lusaka allegedly murdered his wife on 23rd July, 2019 in Suva.

Speaking from Australia through Skype, Chris Downes says the pictures showed that his daughter was not in a natural state.

He says the last time he had spoken to his daughter was on the evening of 21st July, two days before her death.

Downes says his daughter had told her that she and Lusaka had a long conversation and the situation at home was calm and she had reassured him that she was optimistic that everything was going to be fine.

During cross-examination, Downes told the court that in the lead up to the 23rd of July, he had tried to explain Lusaka that the notion of his daughter having an affair was nonsense.

He said that prior to this alleged affair, the issue of other alleged affairs were also raised.

He also said he has no knowledge of Lusaka seeing a psychiatrist when they lived in Australia but said that Lusaka was counselled by a pastor.

The trial continues in the Suva High Court.
