Students travelling from Lomaiviti to Suva to get an education will soon not have to worry about accommodation as the Lomaiviti Women’s Association has managed to collect over $40,000 to build a hostel.

Chairperson and consultant Sereana Qoro told fijivillage News the money was collected during their fundraising event held at the Lautoka Methodist School Ground.

Qoro says many students struggle to find a place to stay when they move for studies, and the planned hostel will help ease the burden on both students and their parents.

She says the association has already purchased a piece of land near Navuso along Qilolevu Road in Nausori.

Qoro also acknowledged the women from the 12 districts of Lomaiviti for their commitment and support towards the project.
