Local band Makare who have become a household name over the years are currently working on an album that they hope to release as early as August this year.

Makare lead guitarist, William Waqanibaravi better known by his stage name Bigwilz says they hope to continue re-igniting the beautiful songs and sounds of Fiji.

Looking back at their humble beginnings, Bigwilz says when the band first started to release renditions of classical Fijian songs, they did not expect to become as popular as they did.

He adds that this eventually took a toll on each of them as they had jobs and families to juggle with their new found popularity and they decided to take a break.

Now, Makare- the band formed by four passionate musicians that include Bigwilz, Phil Dakei, Felix Chaudhary and Simi Rova will take the stage this Saturday after five years.

Bigwilz explains that Makare, meaning clarity of sound, sight and mind will continue to be a project that is about providing a meaningful and clear experience helping Fijians go back in time through the music of those times.

Makare will be performing this Saturday at 6pm at the Royal Suva Yacht Club.
