Leadership Fiji Community Fund has today handed over 19 desks and 19 chairs for children and one teachers table and a chair for the community of Vio Island in collaboration with the Pan Pacific South East Asian Women Association.

Chairperson, Rajesh Patel says 19 strong applications came through in the first phase of support which is worth over $60,000 and they are looking forward to phase two in the first quarter of next year.

The donation is part of the ‘Community Homework Centre’ Project for Vio Island, Lautoka by Pan Pacific South East Asian Women Association.

He says they are sure this donation will go a long way in assisting the children of Vio achieve their educational dreams to become future leaders of Fiji.

Pan Pacific South East Asian Women Association President, Vive Liutaki says the assistance provided by LFCF comes at a time when children at Vio Island are crying for a space to learn after school hours.

Liutaki says the tables and chairs will allow the students to sit and work comfortably, just as in a classroom setting and also do research and meet up for group discussions.
