Lavin Drotini was full of smiles after a successful surgery at no cost at the Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Hospital.

Drotini's mother, Adi Veitama, says her daughter suffered from a cold in 2021, and when the doctors conducted a check on her, they found out that her daughter had a hole in her heart.

She says they had referred her daughter to Doctor Kim’s Medical Centre in Namadi, who recommended them to the Sai Prema Foundation Fiji Hospital in Muanikau.

Veitama says last year, the Doctors had prescribed medicines for her daughter to help her with her breathing.

An echo was done, and they found out that her daughter had a hole in her heart, so they recommended open heart surgery.

She says she was worried about her daughter's well-being when she heard about open heart surgery because her daughter was so young to go through that process.

She advises parents to take their children to a nearby health center for checking, and if they are given any chance for free surgery, they should grab it with both hands.
