Labasa defeated Nasinu 4-2 in the Extra Premier League at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.

Poor ground conditions caused the match to be delayed for a few hours; however, both the crowd and teams were excited to enjoy a great afternoon of football.

At half-time, the score was 1-all, with Jone Naraba scoring for Nasinu and Ratu Anare equalising for Labasa.

In the second half, Labasa dominated, with goals from Taniela Waqa and Rusiate Doidoi, giving them a 3-1 lead.

Kelemefi Matoa then scored for Nasinu, closing the gap to 3-2 and increasing the pressure on Labasa, but a kick from Anish Khem sealed the victory for the hosts, making it 4-2.

Labasa coach Alvin Chand says the players have a strong mentality and are performing well under pressure.

He adds that following this match, the team’s focus will shift to the 2025 BIC Fiji FACT, with preparations set to begin next week.

Labasa currently leads the Extra Premier League table with 23 points, followed by Rewa with 19 points. Nadroga sits third with 13 points, and Navua is in fourth place with 12 points.

Meanwhile, in today’s matches, Lautoka will face Nadroga at 2pm, Suva will play against Navua at 3pm, Rewa will take on Tavua at 3pm, and Nadi will play Ba at 3pm.
