Land Transport Authority Acting Chief Executive Officer Irimaia Rokosawa

Land Transport Authority Acting Chief Executive Officer Irimaia Rokosawa says that the LTA are working with the banks so that people can make payments online as they prefer cashless transactions.

He says previously the third party insurance was paid by insurance companies, but there have been cases pending in court for numerous years, therefore, the government decided to introduce the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji in 2018.

Rokosawa says the ACCF has a policy in terms of payments where customers pay their motor vehicle accident levy with the inspection fee.

The Acting CEO further says that their biggest challenge is their current system, as the authority works on a cash system basis which coincides with the government accounting system.

He says for the LTA to address this issue they have to come up with an advanced payment system.

Rokosawa says they are the only commercial statutory authority in Fiji that carries out the function of being an enforcement, regulator and customer service.

He also says that the government has approved their digitisation journey and they are working on the processes which they will take it into another system.

He says in terms of their online system they have only 4 services that can pay online.
