The Land Transport Authority and the Fiji Police Force have begun their Joint Enforcement Operations which will continue until 15th January, 2022.

LTA’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Irimaia Rokosawa says they have seen a marked increase in the number of severe injuries and deaths on our roads in recent weeks.

He says this is very alarming and quite sad for the families involved.

Rokosawa says that is why this initiative with Police is one that they have taken on whole-heartedly, especially when they consider that with the festive season at the doorstep, movement on the roads is naturally going to increase.

The Acting CEO adds that they will also conduct a weekly analysis of the operations conducted to ensure that all the critical areas and issues are addressed in a timely manner.

He says the focus here is on ensuring the safety of Fijians on or near the road, and to ultimately save lives.
