The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side lost to Canada 33-14 in the 5th place semi-finals at the HSBC SVNS Cape Town 7s.

They will now battle for seventh and eighth place.

Canada started well with Asia Hogan-Rochester scoring twice to put them in a 12-0 lead, and then a few minutes later, teammate Kennedi Stevenson extended Canada’s lead to 19-0.

The Fijiana side responded with a try to Reapi Uluinasau to close the gap to 19-7 at half-time.

Hogan-Rochester scored her third try to extend Canada’s lead to 26-7, but the Fijiana side did not give up as Adita Milinia broke through Canada’s defence and scored Fiji’s second try.

Canada capitalised on Fiji’s mistake and Larah Wright ran in for their fifth try.
