57-year-old former school teacher, Kishore Kumar will not be spending time behind bars as his 12 months sentence has been suspended for three years in the Agni Deo Singh case.

He was sentenced by Magistrate Seini Puamau this morning.

Magistrate Puamau says people who behave like this should expect criminal record and jail time.

Magistrate Puamau considered factors including mental conditions, time spent in remand, remorse and his guilty plea before giving the conviction.

She highlighted that Kumar's psychiatrist report will be attached to his files.

She says such virtual behaviour is not nice and is below the standard of civilised people.

Magistrate Puamau further says he wouldn't be able to get away with it in reality, if he was cussing people in front of MHCC.

She adds that Kumar is willing to plead guilty for all his cases, however, they will go case by case.

Kumar is remorseful and promises to be careful with the words he will use towards other people.

He apologised to Singh and Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka in the court room for what he said.

He had pleaded guilty to a count each of unauthorised access to computer systems and causing harm by posting electronic communication in this case.

On 14th of December 2022, Kumar, while in the Suva Magistrates Court, secured access to a facebook account which did not belong to him and used it to post a video on social media platform titled 'Power In His Voice'.

He had uttered vulgarity against Employment Minister, Agni Deo Singh who was then the Fiji Teachers Union General Secretary.

The former school teacher has 28 days to appeal.

He remains in remand.

Kumar will take his plea tomorrow for the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua matter.

He faces a charge of indecently annoying a person and criminal intimidation for allegedly making indecent claims against Qereqeretabua.
