Allen Lockington who is one of the founders of the community group - Kava Parliament says they are grateful to Fijians both local and overseas who continue to give so that families struggling during these hard times are assisted.

Kava Parliament which is run by Lockington, Narayan Reddy and Nigel Fiu has been on the ground and active in Lautoka and other areas in the Western Division helping out families in need.

Lockington was featured on LegendFM Legend of the Week during the LegendFM Breakfast Show with Alex and Victoria.

He gave insight into how they operate.

Lockington also shared stories about families they have helped.

He says some of the situations they encounter are heartbreaking.

Lockington says this journey for him started when he was on the Lautoka Hospital Board of Visitors before COVID-19.

He says during his visits to the different wards, he noticed some patients were never visited by anyone and were being helped by other patients.

Lockington says he also noticed a single mother who had fear on her face because she was waiting for a free nebulizer at the Lautoka Hospital.

Nebulizers are used to treat asthma.

He says this affected him because he saw the son was struggling to breathe.

Lockington adds he went on social media to ask for help and they managed to get 32 portable nebulizers.

You can catch LegendFM Legend of Week with Alex and Victoria every Friday at 8.30am.
