Pacific long-distance king Yeshnil Karan was selected as Team Fiji’s flag bearer at the Pacific Games closing ceremony.

Karan won 3 gold medals in the 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m and the 10,000m.

He was the most outstanding athlete and was chosen by Team Fiji.

The 22 year old says this is the most memorable moment in his career and he is honored to be leading his fellow athletes in for the 2023 Pacific Games closing ceremony.

Team Fiji’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony, Taniela Rainibogi also scooped 3 golds in the 109kg weightlifting for the clean and jerk, snatch and with his total lift.

With 21 gold, 30 silver and 40 bronze medals, Fiji finished sixth of the medal tally.

New Caledonia won the Pacific Games with 82 gold, 57 silver and 58 bronze while Tahiti came second with 57 gold, 53 silver and 50 bronze medals.

The next Pacific Games will be held in Pirae, Tahiti, French Polynesia in August 2027.
