Efforts are underway to explore the purchase of a boat to ease the high cost of transporting goods and people between Kadavu and Viti Levu.
This was revealed by former government representative for Kadavu, Aropiame Cavalevu, during the Kadavu Festival at the Suva foreshore.
Cavalevu says the current transport costs are placing a significant burden on families and communities in Kadavu, and a dedicated boat could help address this challenge.
Meanwhile, Kadavu Provincial Council Chairman, Sikeli Vuniwaqa, says the two-day festival has the full backing of Kadavu’s chiefs, and is aimed at promoting unity and collective action for the development of the Vanua.

He confirms that all nine districts will contribute their planned subscriptions toward provincial development initiatives.
The Kadavu Festival continues today at the Suva foreshore.
