Justice Kamal Kumar sworn in as new Acting Chief Justice

High Court Judge, Justice Kamal Kumar has been sworn in as the new Acting Chief Justice at State House today.

Justice Kumar will officially start his role Monday.

Justice Kumar has served as a judge since 2013.

The current Chief Justice, Anthony Gates will retire this Sunday.

Justice Kumar will act as the acting Chief Justice until such time when a substantive appointment is made.

The swearing in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, Solicitor General Sharvada Sharma and members of the Judiciary.
