Labasa taxi drivers call for fuel rebate as costs continue to rise

Taxi drivers in Labasa are raising concerns following the rise in fuel prices, and are calling for a rebate on fuel and oil prices to assist drivers.

Labasa Taxi Association Chairman Mahend Prasad stresses that while he understands that rising fares will affect Fijians, he is calling on the government to provide a rebate on fuel, oil and car parts.

Prasad says drivers are already struggling to provide bread and butter for their families, and as prices continue to increase, they will suffer even more.

Prasad stresses that it is not easy for drivers to manage their vehicle maintenance and keep up with the rising cost of living.

He says if there is any further increase in fuel prices, it will make things even harder for the general public and taxi drivers.

Prasad is calling on the government to assist taxi drivers who are struggling to provide for their families.
