Joseph Rodan Snr has been elected as the new President of the Tailevu Rugby Union.

The Tailevu Rugby Union (TRU) held its Annual General Meeting this morning at the Commissioner Central Office Conference Room in Nausori, with representatives from its affiliated rugby clubs in attendance.

One key outcome of this meeting is the election of the new President, alongside a new Executive Committee.

Rodan succeeds Dr. Serupepeli Vunisea, who has served the Union with distinction and dedication over the years.

Rodan extended his heartfelt thanks to Dr Vunisea and the outgoing committee for their contribution to the Union’s development.

He says they will need their guidance and advice throughout the year, and while he is new to this position, he is not new to running organisations successfully.

Rodan emphasised unity and strategic planning as essential to the Union’s future.

He says that with God, everything is possible, and they must unite and work together towards a common vision.

Rodan adds that their journey begins with grassroots club development, career pathways and the creation of a comprehensive Business Plan, Annual Income and Expenditure Proposal, and Marketing Strategy.

He further outlined plans to strengthen governance and operational capacity and says they will run the Tailevu Rugby Union as a business because most of their activities require sustainable financing.

He also stated that they must increase their income-generating initiatives to meet seasonal demands.

He adds they will also actively promote their work and positive stories via their social media platforms to keep the people of Tailevu informed and engaged.

To foster improved communication, Rodan announced the adoption of an open-door policy.

He says they will create an official communication platform for affiliated club committee members and the TRU Executive Committee to engage in transparent and collaborative discussions.”

In rallying support, Rodan called on the Vanua of Tailevu, traditional leaders, faith-based organisations, and sponsors to support the new leadership.

He says they are blessed to have the wisdom and guidance of the Turaga Bale na Vunivalu na Tui Kaba, who will provide counsel to our new Executive Committee.
