Paulina of Lomaivuna High wins 3,000 metres gold

Vishant Reddy of Korovuto College has scooped his second gold medal in the 2023 Coca-Cola Games in a close finish.

Reddy faced stiff competition in the last 150 metres of the boys 3,000 metres race this morning as Savenaca Namokoli of Natabua High School tried his best to snatch the gold.

He now aims to qualify for the Pacific Games.

Reddy says his main focus was to compete and try and qualify for the Pacific Games.

He says it would mean the world to him and his family, to represent Fiji.

Reddy says Savenaca Namokoli of Natabua High School who won silver gave him a tough competition and he has thanked him for it.

He has dedicated the win to his mother, the students of Korovuto College, the Nadi district football team, his family, people of Nadi, especially all the mothers. Samisoni Kaitu of Holy Cross College won the bronze.

Reddy won gold in the senior boys 1,500 metres while Namokoli won gold in the intermediate boys 1,500 metres event.

Meanwhile Akeneta Paulina from Lomaivuna High School won the girls 3,000 metres gold medal.

Paulina has dedicated her win to her school.

Katie Pattie of Natabua High settled for the silver medal while Gladness Simpson of Ratu Luke Secondary took out the bronze medal.
