Its a bit too early for GCC to be self-dependent – Ratu Viliame

Its a bit too early for GCC to be self-dependent – Ratu Viliame

It will take a few years for the Great Council of Chiefs to become self-dependent after the Chair Ratu Viliame Seruvakula revealed that it is a bit too early to try and create a self-dependent GCC.

After the first GCC meeting at Pacific Harbour in February this year, there were revelations that the GCC would be self-dependent and self-funded, however, Ratu Viliame says that he and the Minister for iTaukei Affairs met after that meeting and saw that it’s a bit too early to try and create that.

He says they would have discussed the Cabinet paper with the Prime Minister if he had been part of the meeting but it’s part of the document.
