It would have been tougher if the Lions played Fiji rather than the AUSNZ XVs – Ben Youngs

Former England halfback Ben Youngs believes the British and Irish Lions should play tests against the Fiji Water Flying Fijians if they want tougher opponents and adds that it would have been much better than playing an Invitational team.

This comes after the Lions outplayed the AUSNZ XVs Invitational team 48-0 over the weekend.

Youngs says the Lions are touring Australia and played against the Australian Super Rugby Pacific teams leading up to their test against the Wallabies this weekend, and it was a chance for the Aussies to utilise playing the Lions.

He says the Lions were terrific, but it would have been a tougher game if they played a test against Fiji.

Youngs says the Lions said they are taking this tour seriously, but their match against the AUSNZ XVs Invitational team looked like it was put together two weeks before the game.

The former British and Irish Lions halfback says he always watches the Flying Fijians play against any team because he knows that they play entertaining rugby, especially with their offloading skills.

The Lions will take on the Wallabies at 10pm this Saturday at Suncorp Stadium in their first test of the 3-test series.

Meanwhile, the Flying Fijians will turn their focus to the Pacific Nations Cup competition which kicks off next month.

Fiji will take on Tonga at 3pm on the 30th of August at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
