The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua is made up of 85 to 90 percent of the local players and it is not accurate to say that the club is buying players from overseas.

Those were the words of Fijian Drua CEO Mark Evans who denies the argument that most Drua players were brought from overseas.

Evans says that looking at the 37 players in the main squad and 12 players in the development squad, most of the players were raised in Fiji before they moved overseas for contracts.

Evans says some players who were brought from overseas clubs to join the Fijian Drua like Peni Ravai and Mesake Doge have always wanted to represent their country on the international stage and they were not given that opportunity.

He says the total amount of players in the Drua squad, is less than 10 players who were not born in Fiji and it is a minimal number.

Meanwhile, the Drua currently sits in 8th place after round 1 with 1 point following their bonus point loss while Chiefs, Crusaders, Brumbies, Force and the Waratahs are all locked at 4 points.

The Drua will take on the Hurricanes at 3.35pm this Saturday in McLean Park, Wellington.

In other matches this week, the Chiefs will host the Crusaders at 6.05pm Friday, the Reds will play Moana Pasifika at 8.35pm Friday, the Highlanders will take on the Blues at 6.05pm Saturday, and the Brumbies will play the Force at 8.35pm Saturday.
