People’s Alliance founding member, Ajay Bhai Amrit says it is a disgrace for Fiji to be ranked as the worst place in the Pacific region for journalists in the latest assessment by global press freedom watchdog, Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

Fiji was placed 102 out of 180 countries while other countries from the region included Samoa at 45, Tonga - 49, Papua New Guinea – 62, New Zealand – 11 and Australia – 39.

Amrit stresses that a People’s Alliance Government will remove the Media Act.
