National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad.

National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad is asking if it is true that the Water Authority Fiji is planning to get rid of more workers by making it compulsory that only those with qualifications will have their contracts renewed.

We have sent questions to the Water Authority of Fiji and Minister for Infrastructure Jone Usamate.

WAF has told us they are preparing a response.

Professor Prasad claims that WAF is saying only those with qualifications will have their contracts renewed.

He asks why is WAF allegedly ignoring the expertise of workers with 20 to 30 years of hands-on experience. P

Professor Prasad adds qualifications are important but in an organisation like WAF, vested with the important responsibility of providing clean and safe water 24/7, the experience of personnel is vital to ensuring a constant flow of water and how to overcome challenges caused by deteriorating infrastructure.

He says the unkind and uncaring WAF Board, totally devoid of compassion, care and concern for both its customers and workers, seems only interested in ticking the boxes to show it is conforming to this heartless Government’s vision.
