Former Suva centre and current Gungahlin Eagles outside back Iosefo Namoce has forced his way into the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua after signing a two-year deal with the franchise starting next season.

The Nakama, Macuata man was a standout player for Suva before heading to Canberra to play in the John I Dent Cup competition last season and this season.

The former Queen Victoria School student shared how excited he is, as well as the mixed emotions he is going through after the signing.

Namoce says apart from being excited, he also feels a lot of pressure, but he is ready to make a positive impact on the club next season.

Namoce was a member of the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side that participated in the Oceania 7s tournament in the Solomon Islands last year.

The 23-year-old is also no stranger to some Drua players, having previously played alongside most of them in the local competition.

Fijian Drua General Manager Rugby Baden Stephenson says the club is very excited about Namoce’s signing, as he is a player who has attributes that align with the Drua playing style and identity.

Stephenson says Namoce’s journey hasn’t always been straightforward, however, he is confident that the Drua’s rugby environment can fast-track Namoce into a quality Super Rugby Pacific player.

Meanwhile, the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific semi finals will kick off this Friday with the Crusaders hosting the Blues at 7.05pm in the first semi final, while the Chiefs will host the Brumbies at 7.05pm Saturday in the second semi final.
