The investigation into what substance was consumed by seven guests at the Warwick Resort that resulted in them being hospitalised continues and the substance they consumed is still unknown to the authorities.

We had sent questions to the Police and the Ministry of Health on what substances caused the seven guests to become ill after the authorities ruled out methanol poisoning.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka, the guests consumed Pina Colada and the Health Ministry and Police are investigating the matter.

Police say they will release a statement once the investigation is completed while the Health Ministry has directed all media queries to the Tourism Ministry which has yet to respond.

Last month, seven guests at the Warwick Resort were admitted to the Lautoka Hospital after they allegedly consumed a spiked cocktail prepared at a bar at the resort.

The affected patients' ages range from 18 to 56 years.

Of the 7 guests, 4 are Australian, 1 American and 2 are foreigners residing locally.
