Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad and former FijiFirst General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Police are now investigating comments by former FijiFirst General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made outside the Suva courthouse today.

Acting Commissioner, Juki Fong Chew confirms that their team at the CID Headquarters has been forwarded the recording for the officers to investigate.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad has also called on the Police to look into the comments made by Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum which could tantamount to inciting racial hatred in the country.

Professor Prasad says this is very concerning and also filled with lies where Sayed-Khaiyum is also misleading people by saying that people are now paying school fees under the coalition government.

Although crime reports are being covered, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum asks what is the law and order situation like and how many crimes do not get reported and none of the media is reporting that.

While highlighting the gruesome murder in Samabula late last year, Sayed-Khaiyum asks what drove somebody to do that and says this is because there is a dehumanization process that is taking place in Fiji at the moment because of the racism.

Sayed-Khaiyum also made the comment that people have to pay school fees.

The government has clearly stated that parents do not have to pay school fees and Professor Prasad has branded Sayed-Khaiyum as a liar who is trying to mislead people for his personal benefits.
