India and South Africa prepare for Women’s Cricket World Cup final

For the first time in 25 years, a new team will lift the Women’s Cricket World Cup trophy as India and South Africa face off in Mumbai tonight.

India are seen as potential game-changers for women’s cricket.

South Africa have often been cricket’s “nearly” team.

A memorable moment came in 2023 when a packed Cape Town crowd emotionally sang the national anthem before the T20 World Cup final, however, South Africa lost to Australia.

Their narrow defeat to New Zealand in the 2024 final was another heartbreak.

In the semifinals, India pulled off a record chase of 338 runs against Australia, while South Africa crushed England by 125 runs to reach their first-ever World Cup final.

The final begins at 9.30 tonight.
