Turaga na Tui Namosi Ratu Suliano Matanitobua

The Turaga na Tui Namosi Ratu Suliano Matanitobua has made a strong and bold statement that they will only talk about investments in mining in their province if there is a change to the Mining Rights Act.

In recent months, there has been a lot of outcry from the villagers of Navunikabi in Namosi, rejecting the proposed hydro-power project, where the village highlighted experiencing excessive flooding even with normal rainfall.

The villagers say that they also have witnessed a significant impact on their natural resources.

Speaking to fijivillage News at the GCC meeting, Ratu Suliano says they will discuss in their Bose Vanua on the 4th of December that Namosi won’t continue mining unless the Government changes the Mining Rights Act.

He says he has also shared his message with the people of Namosi and the GCC members.
